Over 35 Years of Legal Experience

About

I have made the beautiful Blue Mountains my home and bring over 35 years of legal experience, the last 30 years of which have been in the areas of deceased estates, trusts and wills.

Deceased estates - I provide a personalised and comprehensive service in both complex and straightforward deceased estates – from helping you to decide whether to take up an appointment as an executor or an administrator, through to the final distribution of the estate – and everything in between.
Whether you are an executor or administrator or a beneficiary of an estate, I work with you to identify what you need, and then provide you with prompt, practical and cost-effective options.
I give you a roadmap in clear terms and then take you through to completion, or if you prefer, I guide you in the right direction.
My extensive and in-depth experience in this area means that I can cut to the heart of what’s required in both complex and straightforward estates, and get the estate to completion as quickly as the process allows.

Wills - When it comes to your will and decisions around your will, I work with you to clarify your intentions, and assist you to comprehensively give effect to your wishes.

Help - The best place to start is to either telephone me or send an email and I can see what assistance you may need.

Trusts

Think of a trust as a separate person who owns assets, has debts and obligations but who has a rulebook it must follow. The rulebook is the trust deed together with the law relating to trusts. I can assist with the interpretation of trust documents. I can provide advice to beneficiaries of a trust about their rights. I can provide advice to trustees of a trust about their rights, their duties and their obligations.

Wills

Do you need to make a will? The answer is yes. You need to make choices about giving away what you own, so that the choice is not made for you by the rules which are imposed when a person dies without a will.In making a will, you need to consider what you own now, what you may own in the future, your superannuation and even your digital assets. You need to consider who you want to provide for and you need to understand who you may have an obligation to provide for. Your drafted will will be as simple or as complex as it needs to be, to ensure your wishes are met.

Enduring Power of Attorney

Do you need to make, or should you make, an enduring power of attorney? The answer is it depends. An attorney manages your financial affairs. You can decide whether that will only be if you lose capacity or whether they can act even if you don’t. We will explore your personal situation and the people in your life to decide whether to make an enduring power of attorney and if so, who to appoint.

Enduring Power of Guardianship

Do you need to make, or should you make, an enduring power of guardianship? The answer again, is it depends. A guardian manages your personal affairs such as where you live and your medical treatment only if you are unable to. We will explore your personal situation and the people in your life to decide whether to make an enduring power of guardianship and if so, who to appoint.

Advance Care Directive

Do you want to make, or should you make, an advance care directive? An advance care directive is your opportunity to choose what medical treatment you have, or don’t have, in the event that you are unable to communicate your wishes. I can advise on when an advance care directive may be useful, what you need to include and guide you in your discussions with your doctor.
